Images from the Welsh Autumn Steam Gala on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway yesterday. The title, “Ghost Engine”, refers to the fact that the Black 5 engine 44771 in the photographs was scrapped some fifty years ago. The Black 5 with the 44771 number plate is in fact one of the NYMR’s engines, 45428 or more probably 44806, renumbered for the gala in keeping with the welsh theme. View the full post

Three shots from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s Scottish Branchlines Gala held a couple of moths ago. all the images are of ex.LNER 0-8-0 Class Q6 steam engine 63395 at Grosmont station. The photos have been converted to black and white, slightly toned, two showing a the engine at the head of a rake of LNER Teak coaches and the third is of it running through the station light engine.
