We took our two eldest Grandkids to the “Winter Steam Spectacular” on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway today. What a misnomer, it should have been called the Spring Steam Spectacular as it was a warm, sunny day. I’m not complaining though.
As always it was a great day out with plenty of things going on, although there seemed to me to be very few kids there. Plenty of fellow aging anoraks, but not many youngsters.
I’ve not had chance to process the photos yet so I’m just uploading two versions of the same shot, one colour and one monochrome, because I couldn’t decide which I preferred. The shot is of ex-LMS Standard Goods Engine 43924 being turned on the turntable next to platform 3 at Keighley station. The turning involved some of the volunteers having to push the turntable after the driver had got the engine weight balanced in the middle of the turntable.
